Alcometer is an application designed to calculate the approximate concentration of ethyl alcohol in a persons blood (unit of measure – per mille) after consuming a given amount of alcoholic beverages and the time of their acceptance.
Calculations takes place according to the formula of Erik Matteo Prochet Widmark,
professor of medical chemistry University of Lund, first published in the book E.M.P. Widmark (1932) Die theoretischen Grundlagen und die praktische Verwendbarkeit der gerichtlich-medizinischen Alkoholbestimmung. Urban & Schwarzenberg, Berlin Wien [1]. A description of the Widmark formula can be found in the Wikipedia [2].
The Widmark formula is used by organizations such as Washington State Patrol [3], for example, in the publication Widmarks equation, p. 1 [4]. And also in the publications of The International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety [5], for example, in the publication Uncertainty in Theoretical Calculations of Alcohol Concentration, D Zuba W Piekoszewski Institute of Forensic Research, Westerplatte 9, 31 033 Krakow, Poland, p. 1, paragraph 2 [6].
The application can be useful in the following cases:
• to calculate the approximate concentration of ethyl alcohol in the blood;
• to calculate the theoretical time when the alcohol concentration becomes zero;
• to visually evaluate in time how the concentration of alcohol in the blood decreases;
• as a source of information about the level of concentration of alcohol in a person’s blood allowed in a particular country for driving;
• as a source of information (links) for calling a taxi.
The results of the calculation can not serve as evidence in court, the results can not be the basis for judicial and other claims and can not be used for challenging the results of laboratory determination of the concentration of ethanol in blood. In calculation the indicators of the average person of the indicated sex, stature and weight were used. In each case, it is necessary to take into account the individual characteristics of the users body.
The developer of the application does not advocate driving under the influence of alcohol and encourages users to exclude attempts to drive after drinking alcohol, as well as to commit other, ill-considered action. The guarantee of your safety is the exclusion of alcohol before and while driving.
The creator of the application does not bear any responsibility for the actions of the users. Using the information, that are listed in the application, as well as the results of the calculation, you are solely responsible for any consequences of using such information/results of the calculation.
All the statuses and comments are nothing more than a fiction of the author and can not be a guide to any actions.
